This manifestation is called Metastatic Crohn's Disease (MCD). When it specifically affects the skin, it is known as Cutaneous Crohn's Disease. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1000\">Metastatic<\/span> (MCD). When it specifically affects the skin, it is known as Cutaneous Crohn's Disease. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"47\">Cutaneous<\/span>. Clinically, MCD presents as a solitary or multiple presentation of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"367\">nodules<\/span>, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"368\">plaques<\/span>, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1279\">ulcers<\/span>, lesions <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"168\">lichenoid<\/span>, hives <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"366\">papules<\/span> in a distribution <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"316\">perifollicular<\/span> of color <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1190\">purplish<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>Histology of Metastatic Crohn's Disease<\/h2>\n<p>Metastatic Crohn's Disease <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1000\">Metastatic<\/span> is histologically characterized by a <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"541\">infiltrate<\/span> granulomatous infiltrate in the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"52\">dermis<\/span>, composed mainly of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"858\">and a smaller proportion of histiocytes.<\/span> epithelioid histiocytes (seen in figures 1 through 5). This infiltrate is usually accompanied by a predominantly lymphocytic reaction, although it can occasionally be dense in <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"422\">lymphocytic<\/span>, although occasionally it can be dense in <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"448\">eosinophils<\/span>. The <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1718\">granulomas<\/span> have the capacity to invade the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"85\">epidermis<\/span> (Figure 1). The <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1718\">granulomas<\/span> observed in Crohn's disease are typically less <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"303\">well-defined<\/span> (as seen in figure 5) compared to sarcoidosis. Furthermore, ulceration and eosinophil density are less common findings in sarcoidosis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mycobacterial Infection:<\/strong> It is imperative to rule out the presence of mycobacterial infection. This requires performing special stains and their corresponding <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"837\">culture<\/span> to confirm its absence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Granulomatous Cheilitis (Orofacial Granulomatosis):<\/strong> This condition can appear histologically <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1669\">histologically<\/span> identical to MCD.
